How to Customize your Route

Google Maps offers a popular drag-and-drop feature. When you pin cities on Google Maps this feature allows you to easily customize your route by clicking and dragging a road on the map. This intuitive functionality enables quick route adjustments to avoid traffic, take preferred roads, or include specific stops along the way.
While we haven’t incorporated this drag-and-drop feature into our route planner yet, we do offer an alternative method to customize your route.
Here’s how you can modify your route using our current system:

1. Open your existing route in the planner.
2. Identify your Desired Road. Determine which road you’d prefer to take instead of the recommended route.
3. Right click on the map and select “Add a location here” to insert a new stop along your preferred road.

In this route for example, if you need to take road #202, this is where you’ll add the intermediate stop (to the right):

4. Open Manual Changes to place this stop where you want the route to change direction.

5. Review the Route: After adding a stop, review how it affects your route. The path should now incorporate your preferred road.
   In this example, one additional stop did the trick:

   Repeat steps 3 and 4 as many times as necessary to make sure the road is changed.
6. Fine-Tune as Needed: If the route still isn’t perfect, add more intermediate stops to further shape your desired path.

Remember, this method gives you precise control over your route without risking unwanted changes. With practice, you’ll find it becomes a quick and effective way to customize your route.
If you’re using Truck Routes Mode vs. Driving mode, you’ll be able to notice that roads change, to meet the vehicle’s restrictions.
