Home » Case Study » Waste Disposal Company Needs Adaptable Route Planning
A waste disposal company collects waste each day from apartments and private houses, on a fixed schedule.
Residents can send special visit requests that are added to this schedule. Depending on the number of special requests, the company needs to plan new routes from time to time, if not every day. Collection points are spread over a number of districts and can reach about 200 per day, and each route can cover as many as 100 points.
The biggest challenge for the transportation planners is monitoring residents’ requests and reassigning the addresses to existing routes and deducting addresses from other routes.
Having to do this with pen & paper and pins & maps is almost impossible. It takes hours and the result is only reasonable.
However, with a route planner as easy to operate as MyRouteOnline, which automatically calculates driving distances and workloads, it’s a pleasure. The transportation planning team now has time to engage in more productive tasks.
The drivers’ workloads are balanced, and the routes are more efficient. Time and fuel are saved and the costs are reduced.
The automatic routing process takes into consideration all kinds of multi-routes parameters that couldn’t be considered with manual route planning. The result is so logical and efficient that it’s a shame not to use it.
